Movie Server Resources
Here are all the software tools, API documentation, control/automation system drivers (with source where available) and other materials we have available.
We sincerely hope this allows you to continue to enjoy your movie server for many years to come. Please join the Discord server (see Community) to report metadata identification issues.
A note about networking…
The movie server and players exist as a collection of devices which communicate through the LAN using UDP multicast to find and talk to each other. This is necessary for a Player to see the movies on a Server, for example. If your player is not seeing movies on the server, verify your networking gear (switches, bridges, routers, etc.) is forwarding UDP multicast packets correctly to the relevant VLANs or segments.
You can use the SNEBS Tester software below running on a Windows PC to see what UDP multicast traffic is moving between Fusion video devices.
Software
Note: Software is Windows desktop OS only
Software | Description |
SNEBS Tester | UDP multicast client to inspect traffic between Fusion video equipment such as players and servers. |
Media Manager | Software to view and manage the movie library of the system. Use this to edit movie metadata (such as cover art and plot summaries). |
Import Utility | Software to import DVD and Blu-ray disks from compatible BD-ROM drives. This works in conjunction with (and requires) third party decryption software (DVDFab’s Passkey). This will attempt to identify the disc using Fusion web services. |
Import Utility 2 | Software to import video files (such as MP4, MKV, etc.) or already decrypted discs. This uses TheMovieDB.org for identification. |
OS Repair Disk (ISO) | I have no documentation on how this works… let’s see if I can dig some up? |
API Documentation
Movie servers accept HTTP requests and return XML responses on TCP port 5151. A simple web browser is usually enough to test your commands and see the responses from the server. The server will proxy communications to individual players as necessary. Please refer to the API documentation here.
Additional Documentation
We also have the most recent installation manual here, and instructions for adding NAS storage to the video server here.
